My traits that I possess that will help to enhance my teaching effectiveness is that I can listen to people and understand what they are talking about and how they are feeling. I believe that I have a deeper knowledge of how children act and think. I am trying to develop these traits more as I continue through schooling and teaching daily to learn more about children.
I feel that I can take information that needs to be taught and transform it into different ways that children can understand. I understand the importance of different learning styles and how to accommodate to each student. Although I am not perfect at this skill, that is something that I am trying to work on and develop.
I am extremely patient but as a human being I need to work on becoming more patient when things do not go my way. Some other traits that I have are the ability to talk to students on a level that is not degrading to them but bringing them up to my level. I try to always say good things and turn them around to be positive to make them feel better about themselves and the things they do.
I also try to talk to parents and figure out about their home lives. Many times students will pick up traits from their parents and to understand them I need to talk to and understand the parents themselves. Having a great relationship with parents from the beginning helps me to involve, talk with, and educate parents about their child’s role in my classroom.
Some traits that I am working on now are the traits of understanding children, being patient, discovering feelings through non communication, and learning different ways of working with children. As I daily teach and communicate with children these traits and abilities will come naturally and help me to become the best teacher that I can be.
