Why do I teach? Is it for the hugs that I receive before even entering the door or is it the satisfaction of teaching something so seemingly simple to you and me but so opening to a little mind? I guess it is both and so much more beyond that.
I am teaching because I realize that children need someone in their lives who will love and care for them and let them dream those big dreams that some of them do not get at home. I love little kids and the way that they are innocent and so trust worthy. They are the clay that needs to be molded into something beautiful and I want to be the one who is helping to mold them.
I have been given a gift to teach, love, mold, grow, and care for children. If it is in the upper elementary, lower elementary or preschoolers there is so many ways and facets for me to teach in their lives. As the preschoolers and lower elementary students grow up they need someone in their lives who believe in them and want to see them succeed. So many of these students do not receive this in their lives and I know that I can be the light that they need to move on and grow. As they develop into upper elementary students it is not too late to continue to encourage and believe in change and growth. Teaching is more then ABC’s and 123’s it is the foundational elements that help to grow a child into an adult. I am not just teaching and growing kids; I am teaching and growing future adults.
I teach because I love to and I will teach to the day that I love it no more. Teaching is an honor and a privilege that I will not take lightly. Every child is a God given gift and I will remember that in every minute that I teach.
